Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-4) Frank Natale (8/31/1940) CWO-4 Frank Natale started his military career with the New Jersey National Guard in 1963. In 1968 at the rank Sergeant (E-5) he resigned the guard and joined the U.S. Army for helicopter flight training.
After 10 months of training he became a helicopter pilot and was sent to South Vietnam and assigned to the 7th Squadron 1st Air Calvary. CWO-4 Natale accumulated 1200 flight hours in a UH-1H Huey helicopter and flew over 500 combat assault missions, receiving 32 Air Medals. While in Vietnam he flew General Gordon Sullivan and General Carl Vuono.
After Vietnam his overseas assignments were: 2 tours in South Korea and on a 5 year term in Germany. His assignments in the United States in Army Aviation Units; instructor pilot, aviation safety officer, maintenance test pilot and instrument flight examiner.
He was a Master Army Aviator with over 12,000 flight hours was awarded: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, 32 Air Medals for Valor with numerous awards and decorations. CWO-4 Natale retired in August 1995 with almost 32 years of military service.
